The HHS Preschool/Nursery program is open to all Hillsborough residents ages 3-5 years old. Students must be three years old by January 1, 2017. There are two sessions (a morning and an afternoon option) and the program runs Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from mid-January through mid-June for 1 hour and 20 minutes. The cost for the program per student is $150/semester and 16 spots are available for each session. Completed applications for the preschool are dated and kept on file in the order in which they are received. Parents must return the child's medical and immunizations forms prior to December 1, 2016 for the application to be eligible. The application is not eligible for acceptance until all required medical documents are received.
The preschool child/nursery class is a 10 credit, double period elective for Hillsborough High School juniors and seniors who are interested in such career fields as education, child psychology, and social services, or as a basis for learning good parenting skills for future family life. The high school students spend the first semester studying the theory behind the emotional, physical, and social development of preschool children. During the second semester, the students apply their knowledge in the classroom with the preschool students by planning, organizing, and supervising the program. The Preschool Program has been in operation since 1971.
