Hey HMS, just a reminder that tomorrow is "Wear Your Pride Colors Day!" Join HMSCares in wearing your Pride colors to acknowledge and support the LGBTQ+ community at HMS and beyond. Let's make it loud and clear that here at HMS, we believe that all people, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. Beyond wearing rainbow colors, there are many other ways to be an ALLY. One way is to stand up and speak up when you hear anti-LGBTQ+ jokes or comments. Not sure what to say? Check out the bulletin boards in the Hallway of Healing or the Annex for some helpful suggestions.

The cafeteria will be closed and off limits to all students again today for yearbook distribution. Check your email for the schedule of when your team will be reporting to the cafeteria with your teachers to pick up yearbooks. Be sure to report to class first and your class will come down to the cafeteria together. There is also information in the email on how students working from home can pick up your yearbooks or purchase one now if you didn't order one earlier.
Remember - any overflow students or classes that might otherwise work in the cafeteria during the day should report to the LIBRARY instead.

Last September, NJ's Governor Murphy signed legislation designating the third Friday in June as a State and public holiday, known as Juneteenth Day. Officially known as Emancipation Day, Juneteenth combines the words June and nineteenth to commemorate the June 19, 1865 announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas.
And just this week, the US Senate unanimously passed a measure to formally declare Juneteenth as a federal holiday, in recognition of the abolition of slavery and the nation’s “second” Independence Day June 19th.
Somerset County will hold its first Juneteenth celebration this evening at 6 PM on the lawn in front of the Somerset Courthouse in Somerville. Join local officials and even some of your HMS peers for this groundbreaking event. For more information, check out the Somerset County website ( https://www.co.somerset.nj.us/about/inclusivity/juneteenth)
