The Hillsborough Township Public School System

Hillsborough Township is the largest municipality in Somerset County, covering an area of 54 square miles with approximately 37 thousand residents.  Centrally located in New Jersey, Hillsborough is only 60 minutes west of New York or east of Philadelphia.  This residential community encompasses Belle Mead, Blackwells Mills, Flagtown, Neshanic, and South Branch, with homes tucked into wooded lands or surrounded by rolling fields. 

Many residents operate businesses or are employed by neighboring corporations such as Ethicon, Exxon Mobil, Johnson & Johnson, Lucent, Merck, Ortho-McNeil, and Sanofi-Aventis.  Within close proximity to the district are institutions of higher learning such as The College of New Jersey, Princeton University, Rider University, and Rutgers University, as well as a number of community colleges.  The residents of Hillsborough Township are committed to quality education, and the excellence of township schools is often a key factor for those who select Hillsborough for their hometown. 

The Hillsborough Township Public School District, with an enrollment of approximately 7,300 students, is a K - 12 district with six elementary schools (K-4), one intermediate school (5-6), one middle school (7-8), and one high school (9-12).
