The final sessions have wrapped up in London, and our Debate Club is walking away with a massive victory! 🇬🇧🎤
Our delegates took on the world at London YouthMUN 2026, and the results were nothing short of spectacular. Our small but mighty team secured 8 Individual Awards for their diplomacy, research, and oratorical skills.
The icing on the cake? We’ve officially been crowned "Best Small Delegation"! 🥇
This win is a testament to the culture of excellence we’ve built together. These trophies will join an already impressive collection of awards from local, national, and international competitions over the years. Time and again, our students prove that they belong on the global stage.
Congratulations to every delegate who put in the long hours of prep and showed up with such passion and poise. You’ve represented us brilliantly on the international circuit!
Safe travels on the journey home - we can't wait to celebrate with you! ✈️

Students in Ms. Mottley’s Algebra 1 class at HMS just took "leveling up" to a whole new height! Partnering with Tech Coach Ms. Mele, these students traded their standard worksheets for Generative AI to bridge the gap between abstract polynomials and interactive software design.
Here’s how they engineered their way to a win:
The Design Phase: Teams used a "Planning Blueprint" to brainstorm game hooks, pitching everything from deep-sea missions to galactic battles.
The Pitch Phase: After a high-stakes class vote, the winner was crowned: "Space Blaster." 🌌
The Build: This is where the math got real. The class authored 10 complex polynomial problems and collaborated with Gemini AI to build the game logic. They decided that mathematical accuracy would dictate the physics - correct answers earned "speed boosts," while errors resulted in "knockback" penalties! ⚡️
The Launch: Students embedded the AI-generated code into a Google Site, turning their classroom into a studio where they peer-tested a fully functional game they built from scratch.
By moving from passive consumers to active creators, these students proved that rigorous algebra and 21st-century computer science are the perfect power-up.
High-five to our student engineers for showing us how math moves! 👏💻📐

Another year, another trophy for the case! Our Girls Track & Field team has officially secured yet another State Sectional Title, proving once again that they are the standard-setters in this sport.
It’s getting harder and harder to find new ways to describe this program’s dominance, but one thing is undeniable - it’s impossible to argue with Coach Refi’s track record. Year after year, the names on the roster change, but the results stay exactly the same.

For the SIXTH year in a row, the Boys’ Swimming team are your State Sectional Champions!
Six years of practices, millions of yards, and enough chlorine to bleach a small forest - all for moments like this. We couldn't be prouder of this dynasty and the grit these athletes show every single time they dive in.
Huge shoutout to the coaches, the parents in the stands, and the teammates who pushed each other to the wall.

We are incredibly proud to announce that Louis DiGirolamo, a history teacher right here at Hillsborough High School, has been honored with the 2025-2026 Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Award (Grades 9-12)!
This prestigious recognition, presented by the Hillsborough Memorial VFW Post 8371 and VFW District #15/Somerset County, celebrates educators who go above and beyond in fostering patriotism and a deep understanding of American history.
What makes this even more special? Louis is a product of the very district he now serves! In a wonderful "full circle" moment, our current Superintendent was actually Louis's Principal back when he was in elementary school. Talk about deep roots in the Boro!

While we understand that bad weather or a convenient open space can be tempting, please be reminded that school parking lots are reserved exclusively for official school business and events, 24/7. This policy remains in effect even when school is not in session.
Why This Policy is Essential:
Student & Staff Safety: Unexpected traffic flow creates unnecessary hazards. Our campus needs to be a predictable, controlled environment.
Security & Monitoring: To maintain a secure environment, we must be able to identify all vehicles on our property. Unidentified or "strange" vehicles — especially those left overnight or during off-hours — pose a security concern and make it difficult for our teams to monitor the grounds effectively.
Maintenance & Weather Clearance: Even when schools are closed, our maintenance teams are hard at work. We need clear lots for snow removal, salt spreading, and essential repairs. A single unauthorized car can prevent an entire section of the lot from being cleared safely.
Accessibility: We must ensure spots remain available for authorized visitors and emergency vehicles at all times.
Vehicles found in violation of this policy may be subject to ticketing or towing at the owner's expense.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep our school community safe!

Congratulations to our participants: ⭐ Yashmee Yatham ⭐ Shubham Sawant ⭐ Devin Milano ⭐ Akshaya Sureshkumar
We would like to extend a special thank you to the Hillsborough Memorial VFW Post #8371 for their partnership and for providing our students with this platform.
